Our mission is to bring Portlanders together to celebrate the Earth with creativity, curiosity, and hope by sharing resources and ideas to make sustainability fun, while appreciating all the wonderful plants, animals, and people that keep our home planet vibrant and vital.
In 2020, friends Nora and Sarah of the newly formed group Making Earth Cool hosted the first rendition of this Earth Day celebration as a quarantine YouTube premiere, screening short films inspired by the Earth, made by filmmakers from all over the PNW.
In 2022, with an expanded crew and the goal of fundraising for the incredible group Youth Vs. Odot, MEC brought the party into the streets with an event at Revolution Hall, a parade to Clinton St. Theater for a screening, AND a dance party!
Now this yearly celebration calls Sunnyside Environmental School its home, and Making Earth Cool has been joined by 350PDX, SOLVE, SES, and all the wonderful performers, tablers, and volunteers that continue to make it the best year yet!

Bark is the resource for community action to protect Mt. Hood National Forest
We use volunteer power and legal tools to monitor, document, and influence logging and restoration activities in Mt. Hood National Forest. Since 1999, Bark has saved tens of thousands of acres from destructive logging projects that would have harmed Mt. Hood's forests and watersheds.
With more than 2 million supporters, Food & Water Watch fights for sustainable food, clean water, and a livable climate for all of us.
We protect people from the corporations and other destructive economic interests that put profit ahead of everything else.
We are Oregon’s oldest statewide environmental nonprofit working to protect wildlands, wildlife, and waters for generations to come.
Through public education, direct lobbying, grassroots activism, litigation, watchdogging, and community building, we fight for an Oregon where nature doesn’t just survive but thrives.
Third Act Oregon (TAO) brings together the political and economic power of Oregonians over age 60 to move local communities in the direction of a more sustainable society and planet.
Our demographic is large, we have a wealth of life experience, we have huge economic power, and we VOTE. When we put our voices together, we are powerful.

🌿 Earth Day arrives just once a year, serving as a poignant reminder that we are mere specks within the grandeur of the greatest masterpiece ever created. Despite our smallness, Earth generously provides us with all we need and gifts us with beautiful sights, smells, tastes, and experiences to cherish. It's only fitting that we pay tribute to her magnificence.
Come celebrate our Mother Earth! Cheer and bow to her radical abundance, her spectacular, everyday greenery, breezes, sunshine, rain, and bird songs. Bask in her divine glory and give thanks for belonging here. 🌍
